An InsiderAdvantage national survey of 817 adults shows overwhelming support for President Trump’s emergency Executive Order to provide TSA workers their past and future pay as a result of the impasse between Republican and Democratic members of Congress. The survey conducted by a panel of 817 adults is weighted for age, race, gender, and political affiliation. It has a 3.43% margin of error. The survey was conducted March 28-29.

“With approval of Congress polling at historically low numbers, Trump managed to pull off a victory as Senators and Members of Congress left Washington for a two week recess. Our polling last week showed that Republicans were being blamed more than Democrats for the lack of TSA funding and airport chaos. Trump finally burst through the information jam created by much of the media and emerges the public opinion winner of the shutdown which began with Democrats refusing to fund DHS, including the TSA. It remains to be seen if Republicans will have the sense to use Trump’s move in paid political ads (beyond their typical small media buys on conservative sites) in key Senate and Congressional battlegrounds, where GOP candidates are almost universally underperforming. The Republican Senate is being pounded among the so-called “MAGA’ voting block for its performance on both the TSA/DHS issue and the SAVE Act. If their leadership does not wake up and find a way to seriously pass Trump’s agenda, I suspect they will lose seats that are not even seriously at risk at present. MAGA voters must turn out in large numbers for Republicans to win in November. Trump’s move showed how bold action can move Independent voters with nearly seventy-percent favoring his Executive Order. But if Senate Republicans continue to operate as they have in the past, they will depress the MAGA vote in the General Election.”
