New record in France: More than 20,000 adults and teens baptized at Easter

This Easter, France recorded more than 20,000 adult and adolescent baptisms, a 20 percent increase compared with the previous year. A new report indicates that the majority of converts are young adults between the ages of 18 and 25, closely followed by the 26-to-40 age group. Women constitute the largest segment, accounting for approximately 62 percent of the total. In general, the new catechumens have no prior religious tradition, driven primarily by difficult life experiences, a profound search for meaning, or spiritual encounters that left a lasting mark on their lives.
