Obama, In A Word, plus other interesting stories

HAUGHTY – “blatantly and disdainfully proud having or showing an attitude of superiority and contempt for people or things perceived to be inferior”  That attitude has infected the Democratic Party since Obama and it is a reflection of Obama himself.  This became absolutely apparent to me when I read this article about the displacement that is occurring in the construction of Obama’s presidential library complex.  “Haughty’ is an old, seldom used word that I only have ever heard in church contexts, but I think it absolutely perfectly describes Barack Obama and it kept repeating in my mind as I read the article.

When you read the piece, and strip away the hyperbole and political posturing, you are left with the standard story of development in a poor neighborhood, with one difference:

Alderwoman Jeanette Taylor, who represents much of the area where the center is being built, told the Daily Mail she is a fan of Obama and believes in the project but has fought aspects of it to protect her constituents. Her efforts have had mixed results….

‘This was no different, and we’re living what is actually happening. The city of Chicago should have done a Community Benefits Agreement before the first shovel went into the ground, but they didn’t.’

A CBA is a legally binding document that outlines what a developer will provide for a project such as affordable housing, local hiring and environmental protections.

There you have it, Obama did not engage in the typical red tape because he is Barack Obama and somehow above all that.  And so, the first African-American president acts in exactly the same manner as the so-called racist white people.  If that is not haughty, I do not not know what is.

The Apostle Paul says, “Be of the same mind toward one another; do not be haughty in mind, but associate with the lowly. Do not be wise in your own estimation.”  Unless, of course, you are building a monument to yourself.  Oh, the irony.

The writer of Proverbs says, “Before destruction the heart of a person is haughty, But humility goes before honor.”  As  the Democratic Party continues to move leftward and further from the mainstream of America, their destruction seems quite possible – a destruction rooted in haughtiness.

And in other news

Did I just quote scripture?  Then by the accounting of some, I am a “Christian Nationalist.”  Among their many sins, the Democratic Left is destroying the English language to suit their own ends.

Speaking of destruction rooted in haughtiness, “It is impossible to overstate the corruption within the Biden administration.” The piece discusses apparent partisanship in the minimal response to the East Palestine, OH train derailment in 2023.  I find it fascinating that a train carrying large quantities of hazardous materials derails and burns and the official federal line is pretty much “Nothing to see here,” while in L.A. people were not permitted to go back to their burned property until the EPA had been through and dealt with all the potential environmental hazards, like batteries and household cleaner.

But then we live in a world where some believe that “nature” has rights.  It is bad enough that we assigns rights to animals – now we are assigning them to something as vague as nature?  I could write a thesis on how incredible unbiblical such a contention is, but then I’d be a Christian Nationalist, so I better shut up.  What I will note that lawyers are playing a huge role in the destruction of language previously mentioned.

What have we come to where I am a Christian Nationalist, but people are seeing Sauron in the Brooklyn Bridge.  Do people ever wonder what the author was trying to say anymore, or do they just impress their will on whatever they are reading.  Tolkien was a devout Roman Catholic.  Just sayin’.

Finally, this is just cool.  The biblical ties are tenuous at best and purely to attract attention (probably to capitalize a museum to show the piece off) but it is still cool.
