PELOSI PUT ON BLAST! Trump Calls Out Former Speaker While Encouraging Congress to Ban Stock Trading for Members of Congress [WATCH]

Even Liz Warren was applauding.

A rare bipartisan moment unfolded Tuesday night when Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), one of President Trump’s fiercest Senate critics, rose to applaud his call to ban congressional insider trading.

“As we ensure that all Americans can profit from a rising stock market, let’s also ensure that members of Congress cannot corruptly profit using inside information. Pass the Stop Insider Trading Act without delay,” Trump said during his State of the Union address.

The proposal would prohibit lawmakers, their spouses, and dependent children from buying individual publicly traded stocks and would require a seven-day public notice before selling holdings.

Warren has long supported similar legislation targeting congressional stock trading. Other Democrats also stood and applauded, drawing the president’s attention.

“They stood up for that — I can’t believe it,” Trump said. “Did Nancy Pelosi stand up for that?”

“Doubt it,” he added.

The Stop Insider Trading Act has cleared a House committee but awaits a full vote.

Republicans have frequently criticized Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) over stock trades made by her husband, arguing they highlight the need for tighter rules.

Pelosi — whose net worth exceeds $269 million according to Quiver Quantitative — is among the wealthiest members of Congress.
