President Donald Trump will hold a news conference Monday that he says “will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C.”
Trump promoted the event on his social media platform, adding it will also address “cleanliness” and the “general physical renovation” of the nation’s capital.
In a separate post, he urged the homeless to leave D.C., sharing photos of encampments along his route from the White House to his golf club in Sterling, Va.
“The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital,” he wrote. “The Criminals, you don’t have to move out. We’re going to put you in jail where you belong.”
The announcement follows Trump’s order last week to boost law enforcement as part of his March executive order to “Make the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful.”
