The fight over girls’ sports is heading straight to the Supreme Court.
The nation’s highest court is hearing arguments in two cases challenging state bans on transgender students playing on sports teams aligned with their gender identity. At issue is whether those bans are allowed under the 14th Amendment and Title IX, the 1972 federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in education.
The laws were challenged by a college student in Idaho and a high school sophomore in West Virginia who competes on the girls’ track team.
Listen to the oral arguments above.
