The announcement came Monday during a press conference in Sarasota, Florida, where Noem outlined the department’s ongoing enforcement actions under President Donald Trump’s direction.
“Since January, the Department of Homeland Security has arrested over 480,000 criminal illegal aliens — 70 percent of those individuals have criminal charges against them or have been convicted of those criminal charges,” Noem said.
The arrests represent a significant expansion of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations nationwide. Noem said the department remains committed to removing dangerous individuals who pose a threat to public safety.
“We are not going to let these individuals terrorize our streets anymore and we’re not going to let them make victims out of families that live in this country,” she said….
Noem said these arrests reflect DHS’s renewed focus on enforcement after years of lax policies. The department, she said, is concentrating its resources on individuals with violent criminal records or those who have re-entered the country after prior deportations.
“Every arrest we make represents a step toward restoring law and order in communities that have been affected by repeat offenders,” Noem said. She added that ICE is working in close coordination with federal, state, and local agencies to locate, arrest, and remove criminal aliens.
Barack Obama deported almost 2.75 million illegals while in office, which all saw as part of his job. But the Left uses Trump Derangement Syndrome to portray Trump doing the same thing (at a significantly slower rate than Obama) as akin to ethnic cleansing, racial genocide, or other historic crimes. Acts of executive authority that our media treated as perfectly normal before Donald Trump — because they were — now get compared to historic dictators’ abuses of power.
One of the sins the prophets denounced in the Old Testament was the use of unjust, double standards: “Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight” (Proverbs 11:1). Using such scales is precisely what Leftists are doing today — pretending that the office of the presidency itself is a wicked dictatorship, simply because they happened to lose an election.
Boy, You All Want Power
This is not how people behave when they intend to share a country peacefully with their opponents. It’s how the Nazis and Communists acted in Weimar Germany, because they were bitterly frustrated that they had to live alongside their opponents. I don’t often quote Republican Senator Lindsay Graham, but I’m reminded of his best remark during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, when dozens of Democrats pretended to believe Christine Blasey Ford’s transparent, unsupported perjury: “Boy, you all want power. God, I hope you never get it.”
What would the Left do to gain power, and how would it use it? A representative incident at the Astroturfed “No Kings” demonstrations last weekend gives us a hint. Another Lifezette story reports:
The Department of Homeland Security on Monday posted video footage from a “No Kings” rally in Chicago that shows a man calling for the shooting of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, and the agency said it has referred the matter to the Department of Justice.
In the clip shared by DHS on its official social channels, an unidentified participant can be heard addressing the crowd through a microphone. “You gotta grab a gun, we gotta turn around the guns on this fascist system,” the man shouted.
“These ICE agents gotta get shot and wiped out. The same machinery that’s on full display right there has to get wiped out.”
During the Chicago NO KINGS rally this previous weekend, violent rioters called for the cold-blooded murder of ICE agents.

This wasn’t some random unemployed grifter speaking, but someone who works as a staff member at a taxpayer-funded college:
Sickening. A staff member at Wilbur Wright College is calling for ICE agents to get “shot” and “wiped out.”
This is a criminal threat that should be investigated.

Let’s talk about “dishonest scales.” A rodeo clown had his career ruined for wearing a mask mocking Obama in 2013. A prankster was sentenced to prison for posting a satirical meme about voting by text for Hillary Clinton in 2016. An innocent Coptic Christian was scapegoated by Clinton herself (and actually imprisoned) as the reason for anti-American riots in Libya in 2012 — when his obscure anti-Islam video had no role in provoking a violent attack by al Qaeda elements on the U.S. embassy in Tripoli.
But Leftists expect their supporters to skate when they call for armed attacks on U.S. citizens simply trying to enforce our just, duly enacted immigration laws. And they don’t apologize for attacks on peaceful activists such as the late Charlie Kirk. Some of them even celebrate his death.
An 1861 Moment
Keep such people in mind the next time someone suggests that Trump is overstepping “historic” norms or violating “conventions” of “decency.” We’re not in your father’s America anymore. We’re in something a lot closer to Abraham Lincoln’s in 1861. That’s the case made by David Clements in his powerful video message, which you can find here later this morning. He argues that Trump must look to Lincoln’s example in the robust use of executive emergency powers in the face of domestic rebellion.
