The latest blasphemous stunt by a Catholic priest to promote open borders ought to outrage anyone with respect for the Eucharist, much less for our country’s sovereignty and laws. Left-wing activist Rev. Larry Dowling organized a formal eucharistic procession, complete with smells and bells, and marched it up to the locked gates of an ICE facility on a Sunday, without notifying anyone in advance. Then he made a little scene in front of the fence, as if wicked Donald Trump were intentionally keeping Jesus away from the migrants, or some such nonsense.

I was in charge of prison ministry for a diocese for five years. In absolutely no situation (county jail, state prison, etc.) were we ever allowed entry to a correctional facility without prior authorization.

This isn’t the first time a Catholic cleric has tried to use our sacraments to make a blatantly political attack on enforcement of our immigration laws. A few months ago, the Archbishop of Miami led a protest of Knights of Columbus on motorcycles to make an issue of the fact that an ICE facility had not yet set up a Catholic chaplaincy. In response, I suggested that such chaplains ought to be calling illegal aliens to repent their serious sins. It is indeed to sinful to do any of the following:
- Illegally enter a foreign country.
- Illegally work there, undercutting the wages and working conditions of citizens.
- Get paid in cash, avoiding taxes.
- Falsely claim that they are being persecuted so they can seek asylum claims.
- Refuse to appear in court to have those claims adjudicated, just disappearing into the wind.
- Collect government benefits intended for citizens.
- Use false documents, purloined Social Security numbers, and other means of identity theft to evade the law.
- Get free medical care paid for by taxpayers.
- Intentionally bear children in that foreign country, so their little citizens can get free education and medical care, and prevent themselves from being deported.
My church has become so addicted to immigration that its political influence is increasingly toxic, and its spokesmen should just be ignored. We should accord their appeals (“Just one more hit of Guatemalan brown, c’mon man, I’m hurting!”) the same respect as the pleas of panhandling junkies, paid political lobbyists or agents of foreign governments. Here’s an idea: as long as the Vatican is demanding open borders for the U.S. and other Western nations, force bishops to register as agents of Vatican City. Oh yes, and RICO the U.S. Catholic bishops for their sex abuse coverups and collusion with cartels to traffick illegal aliens.
Remember that the U.S. bishops cashed $3 billion in checks mostly from federal grants linked to immigration in just 15 years — repaying them, dollar for dollar, what they spent paying off victims of clerical sex abuse. If we could find some way to pay bishops a bounty every time a woman in a crisis pregnancy kept her baby, they’d be pro-life fanatics instead. I can’t really see how we could set up such a scheme, though … so we’ll just have to do what most Catholics already do: pretend that the bishops don’t exist. It’s less painful that way.
Leftist, Pro-Abort Cleric Provokes ICE, Gets Pepper Sprayed
There’s plenty of play-acting by pastors on both sides of the Tiber, I’m sorry to report. One far-left Presbyterian minister, Rev. David Black, has been provoking ICE agents and obstructing entry to ICE facilities, with cameras at the ready to catch him looking like a victim after agents are compelled to use minimal force against him — such as pepper spray. It didn’t take long, though, for alert citizens to release the complete footage which proves Black was a provocateur — and a pro-choice activist who holds tarot card events at his church.

With Israel Standing Down, Gaza Returns to Normal — Arab on Arab Chaos
We’re getting a pretty good foreshadowing of what a Palestinian state would look like, should one evolve in the wake of President Donald Trump’s historic accord: A blend of chaos and tyranny, like most other Arab polities. The BBC reports:
At least 27 people have been killed in fierce clashes between Hamas security forces and armed members of the Dughmush family in Gaza City, in one of the most violent internal confrontations since the end of major Israeli operations in the enclave.
Masked Hamas gunmen exchanged fire with clan fighters near the city’s Jordanian hospital, witnesses said.
A senior official in the Hamas-run interior ministry said security units surrounded them and engaged in heavy fighting to detain them. The ministry said eight of its members were killed in “an armed assault by a militia”.
Medical sources said 19 Dughmush clan members and eight Hamas fighters had been killed since fighting began on Saturday.
Where are the massive protests on U.S. campuses and in major cities against this explosion of violence harming “marginalized,” “indigenous” Muslims? No such protests materialized, any more than Leftists look up from their lattes at news of the body counts racked up by black-on-black violence in our own cities. They only go into hissy fits when the forces of order — be it the Israeli army, local police, or the National Guard — use violence in self-defense. The Left isn’t anti-violence, but simply pro-crime.
Oregon Spends More on Illegals Than on Police
Does that sound too stark and simplistic? Then consider this news item from The Daily Caller:
Oregon will spend more in its current budget period on free health care for immigrants regardless of legal status than on state police by $500 million or more, according to state officials and budget documents.
Oregon officials expect to spend $1.5 billion in combined state and federal taxpayer dollars on a program that offers health benefits to illegal aliens from 2025 to 2027. They expect to spend $717 million on Oregon State Police over the same period, the documents indicate.
Since 1987, Leftist-run Oregon has refused to cooperate with federal authorities in removing illegal aliens and sending them back home, so in every sense it’s true to say that the state would rather spend money rewarding crime than fighting it.
But Illegals Aren’t Criminals. They’ve Broken No Law …
That’s right, entering our country illegally is in itself a crime, not to mention the one-man crime wave each illegal turns into when he starts working illegally, using fake Social Security numbers, driving without insurance, and the other crimes necessary to subsist in our country without legal status.
Don’t try explaining any of this to distinguished TV journalist and commentator Don Lemon, however. Watch this hilarious clip where he accosts an ordinary citizen, and tries to elicit from her a condemnation of Trump’s deportation efforts, with the claim that illegals “commit no crime,” because illegal entry is in itself a misdemeanor. The passerby patiently explains to Lemon what a misdemeanor is — one of the two varieties of crimes. Once Lemon finds himself cornered, he actually condescends to the woman who just logically shredded him into lemon zest.

It’s almost as if Mamdani holds white people and Western countries to totally different standards than brown people in African countries. Which standard does Mamdani actually support? Is he secretly homophobic, but just shilling for libertine votes? Or does he give Africans a pass on protecting what he loudly calls “human rights” here in America because … he regards them as unteachable primitives? So many questions arise … but no one in the press will step up and ask them. Maybe one of his rivals in the race should pose them at Thursday’s televised debate.
