Over the course of time, the Ordinary Magisterium, together with numerous Saints and Doctors of the Church, all taught the Marian doctrines of Co-redemption and Mediation, employing among other expressions the specific titles “Co-Redemptrix” and “Mediatrix of All Graces.” St. Irenaeus, Pope Leo XIII, Pope St. Pius X, Pope St. John Paul II, St. John Henry Newman and many others affirmed, in the words of Newman (responding to an Anglican objector and referring to the Early Fathers’ view of Marian titles): “they would have deemed it a poor compensation for such language, that you protested against her being called a Co-redemptress.”
