Always nice to report: “hero saves day.”
A Tennessee state trooper helped bring a woman to safety after authorities responded to a crisis situation on a bridge the day after Christmas, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Troopers and local emergency personnel arrived after reports of a woman in distress. Body-camera video released by the department shows responders speaking with her before a trooper moved in and pulled her to safety. Officials said she was later taken for evaluation and support services.
In a statement, the department wrote that this time of year can be difficult for many people, adding, “Stress, grief, loneliness and fear can pile up fast. That does not mean someone is weak. It means they are human.” Authorities thanked first responders and bystanders who helped ensure she was not harmed.
“A woman was in a dark place and was considering jumping,” police said. “Because people showed up and worked together, she is alive tonight.
“Today ended with a life saved,” they said. “That matters.”
