Trump Declares Deadly Drug a Weapon of Mass Destruction, ‘No Bomb Does What This is Doing’ [WATCH]

President Donald J. Trump has signed an Executive Order designating illicit fentanyl and its core precursor chemical as weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

“No bomb does what this is doing — 200 to 300,000 people die every year that we know of,” Trump said. “So we’re formally classifying fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction!”

The designation immediately triggers a cascade of new federal directives aimed at dismantling fentanyl production, trafficking routes, and the financial networks that fuel them.

Under the order:
• The attorney general is directed to aggressively pursue criminal charges, sentencing enhancements, and sentencing variances in fentanyl trafficking cases.

• The Secretary of State and Secretary of the Treasury are instructed to target assets and financial institutions tied to the manufacture, distribution, and sale of illicit fentanyl and its precursor chemicals.

• The Secretary of Defense and Attorney General are tasked with determining whether the Department of Defense should provide enhanced national security resources to the Justice Department during a WMD-related emergency.

• The Pentagon, in consultation with the Department of Homeland Security, must update chemical incident response directives to explicitly include the fentanyl threat.

• DHS is ordered to identify fentanyl smuggling networks using WMD and nonproliferation intelligence tools.

The move marks the latest escalation in the administration’s aggressive fentanyl strategy, which already includes stricter enforcement at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump has also repeatedly targeted suspected drug-smuggling vessels off the coast of Venezuela and has publicly floated the possibility of land strikes against trafficking operations.
