According to a Fox News exclusive, the Trump administration released new numbers this week showing a sweeping immigration crackdown in its first year, with thousands of cases flagged for fraud, national security concerns, and removal.
The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services told Fox News Digital it referred more than 14,000 cases to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for fraud or national security concerns since President Donald Trump took office. Of those, 182 were confirmed or suspected national security risks.
USCIS operates within the Department of Homeland Security, which is led by Secretary Kristi Noem.
According to the agency, its Fraud Detection and National Security Directorate completed 19,300 fraud investigations, finding fraud in roughly 65% of the cases reviewed. The unit also conducted 6,500 site visits and 19,500 social media checks examining applicants’ online activity.
“USCIS has taken an ‘America First’ approach, restoring order, security, integrity, and accountability to America’s immigration system,” USCIS Director Joseph B. Edlow told Fox News Digital. “It ensures the system serves the nation’s interests and prioritizes Americans over foreign nationals.”
The agency also issued a record-breaking 196,000 Notices to Appear, formally placing migrants into removal proceedings. More than 2,400 arrests were made at USCIS field offices during the administration’s first year.
USCIS said it has also taken emergency steps amid rising security threats. After an Afghan national was accused of killing a National Guard member and seriously injuring an Air Force staff sergeant in a Washington, D.C., attack last November, the agency froze asylum processing for all countries and launched a full re-examination of green cards issued to individuals from high-risk nations.
“In less than a year, President Trump has delivered some of the most historic and consequential achievements in presidential history—and this Administration is just getting started,” Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement over the weekend.
“In record-time we have secured the border, taken the fight to cartels, and arrested thousands upon thousands of criminal illegal aliens,” Noem added. “Though 2025 was historic, we won’t rest until the job is done.”
