Trump Teases He’s Selected Powell’s Replacement, ‘I Know Who I’m Going to Pick’ [WATCH]

“Too Late” can’t be gone soon enough.

President Donald Trump dropped a weekend bombshell, revealing he’s already chosen the next Federal Reserve chair — a blockbuster move as Americans grapple with affordability woes.

“I know who I am going to pick, yeah. We’ll be announcing it,” Trump told reporters Sunday night, keeping the suspense high

The guessing game is now in full swing. Top contenders include Trump’s own economic guru Kevin Hassett, Fed Governor Christopher Waller, and former Fed board member Kevin Warsh.

Hassett, for his part, told Fox & Friends Weekend that he’d be “happy to serve” if tapped to replace Jerome Powell — the very chairman Trump himself appointed back in 2017. Powell’s term wraps in May 2026.

The high-stakes pick comes as some high prices test Trump’s promise to restore affordability. The Fed sits at the center of that battle, controlling interest rates that affect everything — mortgages, credit cards, car loans, and the pace of inflation itself.

Voters are feeling the crunch, and Democrats have been cashing in on affordability messaging in races across the country this fall.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent added fuel to the frenzy last week, saying that after interviewing five candidates, he delivered a final shortlist to Trump.

Bessent — who’s been vetting options since Labor Day — says he wants “forward-looking, not backward-looking” regulators to take the helm.
