Trump Unveils ‘Board of Peace’ at World Economic Forum in Davos [WATCH]

President Trump went big on the world stage on Thursday, unveiling his international “Board of Peace” at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, pitching it as a new global force that could rival the United Nations and declaring the brutal Israel-Hamas war is basically on fumes.

“They’re down to little fires,” Trump said of the situation in the Palestinian enclave, which has been shattered by more than two years of fighting. “We can put them out very easily.”

Trump, 79, became the first signer of the board’s charter and was joined on stage by officials from more than 20 other countries, including: Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Egypt, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Morocco, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.

With that lineup behind him, Trump delivered the headline he wanted the world to hear: “We have peace in the Middle East, no one thought that was possible,” Trump proclaimed in brief remarks. “Today the world is a safer, richer, and much more peaceful place than it was one year ago.”

Even as he pitched the Board of Peace as a fresh alternative to the UN, Trump signaled he’s not trying to totally bulldoze the old institution — at least not publicly.

Trump also promised that the board would “work with many others, including the United Nations,” which the president has accused of straying from its original mission to resolve conflicts and promote peace and global security.

“I think we can spread out to other things as we succeed with Gaza, we’re going to be very successful in Gaza,” he said, adding: “We can do numerous other things. Once this board is completely formed, we can do pretty much whatever we want to do.”

Trump doubled down: “I think the combination of the Board of Peace with the kind of people we have here, coupled with the United Nations, can be something very, very unique for the world,” Trump went on.

“Together we are in a position to have an incredible chance — I don’t even call it a chance, I think it’s going to happen — to end decades of suffering, stop generations of hatred and bloodshed and forge a beautiful, everlasting and glorious peace for that region.”

But while Trump was already eyeing the next global mission, Secretary of State Marco Rubio hit the brakes — saying the new board’s job starts with one thing and one thing only:

Moments later, however, Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized that the board’s “first and foremost” job is “making sure that this peace deal in Gaza becomes enduring” before turning its attention elsewhere.

The Board of Peace didn’t appear out of thin air. It was first sketched out months ago as part of Trump’s broader Gaza blueprint.

The Board of Peace was conceptualized in September as part of the president’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, which special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner put forward to end the two-year Israel-Hamas conflict.
