University of Michigan Ends ‘Transgender’ Medical Interventions for Minors

The University of Michigan’s (U of M) medical clinic, Michigan Medicine, will stop providing minors with “transgender” medical interventions, it disclosed in an announcement on August 25.

The university said it will no longer provide puberty blocking drugs and opposite-sex hormones to minors, after receiving a federal subpoena as a part of a criminal and civil investigation into transgender medical interventions.

“In light of that investigation, and given escalating external threats and risks, we will no longer provide gender affirming hormonal therapies and puberty blocker medications for minors,” the university said.

Of course, opposite-sex hormones are not “gender affirming,” as the university claimed. Rather, they deny a person’s real sexual identity and are administrated to make children appear more like the opposite sex.

“We recognize the gravity and impact of this decision for our patients and our community,” Michigan Medicine added. “We are working closely with all those impacted, and we will continuously support the well-being of our patients, their families, and our teams.”

This announcement makes the U of M the latest in a long string of over a dozen healthcare providers who have ceased providing minors with life-altering, irreversible, harmful and damaging drugs, hormones and surgeries, thanks to an ongoing investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).

Boston Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital Colorado and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles are under investigation by the FBI for performing transgender procedures on minors.

In an April 22 memo, Attorney General Pam Bondi directed DOJ attorneys to investigate hospitals and other healthcare providers for harming children with such procedures.

“The Department of Justice will not sit idly by while doctors, motivated by ideology, profits, or both, exploit and mutilate our children,” Bondi declared. “Under my watch, the Department will act decisively to protect our children and hold accountable those who mutilate them under the guise of care.”

She added,

Every day, we hear more harrowing stories about children who will suffer for the rest of their lives because of the unconscionable ideology behind “gender affirming care.” Under my leadership, the Department of Justice will bring these practices to an end.

The Trump administration’s actions come after President Trump signed an important executive order on January 28, “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation.” The president directed the attorney general to investigate the mutilation of minors’ healthy bodies, and rescinded federal funding to any institution providing transgender medical interventions.

Despite being challenged in court, the order is one of the most – if not the most – significant singular action ever taken to protect children from gender ideology.

The president’s action, and the DOJ and FBI’s ongoing investigations, means tens of thousands of children will be saved from the lifelong consequences of such transgender interventions.

This return to biological reality, and a medical system that will hopefully once again uphold its promise to “do no harm,” is a greatly encouraging trend indeed. Let’s pray it continues.
