Virginia’s Democratic Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger has displayed incredible audacity with her nomination of Stanley Meador to be the next Virginia secretary for public safety and homeland security. The choice provides a jarring indication of the radical agenda that Spanberger, a former CIA agent, intends to pursue in her administration. Stanley Meador was the Special Agent in Charge (SAC) of the FBI’s Richmond, Virginia, office that issued the infamous FBI memo targeting “radical-traditionalist Catholics.”
In June, Meador was one of many agents fired, demoted, or put on leave by new FBI Director Kash Patel. The New York Times rushed to their defense, of course, characterizing the dismissals as “retaliation” and “politicization” of the Bureau. The Times story on June 5, 2025 claimed that the agents were targeted on an “enemies list” of FBI employees who were being purged for not being personally loyal to Donald Trump. Here are the opening paragraphs of the Times story, titled “As Ousters Continue, F.B.I. Singles Out Employee Over Friendship With Trump Critic:
The F.B.I. has targeted another round of employees who ran afoul of conservatives, forcing out two veteran agents in Virginia — one of whom is friends with a critic of President Trump — and punishing another in Las Vegas, according to several people familiar with the matter.
Two of the men, Spencer Evans and Stanley Meador, are senior agents who ran F.B.I. field offices in Las Vegas and Richmond, Va. The third, Michael Feinberg, a top deputy in the Norfolk, Va., office, had ties to a former agent whom Kash Patel, the F.B.I. director, identified in his book as part of the so-called deep state.
The moves add to the transfers, ousters and demotions that have rippled across the F.B.I. as Mr. Patel and Dan Bongino, his No. 2, promise to remake the country’s premier law enforcement agency. The wave of changes, current and former agents say, amount to little more than retaliation, underscoring what they describe as the politicization of the F.B.I. as its leaders seek to mollify Mr. Trump’s supporters.
Naturally, the Times’ spin purposely ignores the facts concerning the agents’ egregious actions, including their participation in the illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral weaponization of the FBI against President Donald Trump and his advisors, appointees, and supporters. More on that down below, but first, back to Governor-elect Spanberger.
“I know Mr. Meador’s decades of service to our country and our Commonwealth will bring the expertise necessary to protect our citizens, support the brave men and women of law enforcement, and make sure Virginia is a place where every Virginian can safely thrive — no matter their zip code,” Spanberger said in a press statement announcing the nomination.
Attacks on Religious Freedom
Her choice for this top law-enforcement and security slot justifiably caused an immediate outpouring of criticism from Republicans, Catholics, pro-lifers, and religious-liberty advocates (see here, here, here, here, and here). Meador not only was in charge of the FBI office that issued the notorious memo defaming and targeting Catholics, but, along with FBI Director Christopher Wray and other FBI officials, was a participant in the campaign of coverup, stonewalling, lying, and misdirection aimed at deceiving and thwarting the congressional investigations into this grievous attack on religious freedom.
Contrary to the early claims by Wray and FBI higherups, the Richmond Memo (i.e., the Meador Memo) was not an unapproved memo restricted only to the Richmond area; it had high-level approval and was disseminated nationwide, including to FBI offices in Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Portland, and other cities. Two years ago, the House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government issued a report into the Meador Memo scandal detailing the damning evidence of the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Department of Justice and FBI against American Catholics. (“The FBI’s Breach of Religious Freedom: The Weaponization of Law Enforcement Against Catholic Americans”)
Among many disturbing findings, the report discloses that the FBI authors of the memo used propaganda spewed by such discredited and virulently anti-Trump, anti-MAGA, anti-Christian, pro-abortion, pro-LGBTQ extremist sources as the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), Salon, and The Atlantic as the basis for the supposed “threat” posed by “radical-traditionalist Catholics.” These are the very sources of “tolerance” that have been stoking the fires of violence and intolerance for decades. (See Protecting Rights: Loyal Americans Targeted by the SPLC.)
Establishment Connections
One of the FBI agents featured prominently in the Times story mentioned above is Michael Feinberg, a close associate of notorious FBI Trump haters (and illicit lovers) Peter Strzok and Lisa Page. Since leaving the FBI, Feinberg has become a fixture at CNN, MSNBC, The Bulwark, and other media traffickers in Trump Derangement Syndrome. More importantly, he has been picked up as a regular contributor at Lawfare, the left-wingblog that has become a major Deep State conduit of disinformation from the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), the Brookings Institution, the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and the intel community.
Lawfare, a project of the leftist-globalist Brookings Institution, was co-founded by, and is run by, Benjamin Wittes, a left-wing conspiracy theorist (and Brookings Senior Fellow), most notoriously known for promoting the false narratives of Trump-Russia collusion, Trump-Ukraine collusion, and other malevolent attacks, many of which are based on intentionally damaging leaks and fabrications from operatives within James Comey’s FBI, John Brennan’s CIA, Merrick Garland’s DOJ, and other saboteurs of the Deep State. Wittes is a witting disinformation agent, a veteran scribbler for The Washington Post,The Atlantic,The New Republic,Slate,The Weekly Standard, etc. His wife, Tamara Cofman Wittes (CFR member), is also a senior fellow at Brookings and president of the Soros-funded National Democratic Institute, which is also directly funded by federal taxpayer dollars. Prior to those sinecures, Tamara Cofman Wittes worked in the State Department for Presidents Obama and Biden, helping direct Middle East affairs and the disastrous and subversive USAID programs.
Swamp Creatures
The Spanberger/Meador story is concerning for many reasons. The northern counties of Virginia bordering on the Washington, D.C., area have long been home to the ever-sprawling Deep State swamp. Thanks to the breakneck growth of Big Government (under both Republican and Democratic administrations) over the past several decades, Northern Virginia (aka NoVA or NOVA) has been flooded with federal bureaucrats, contractors, and consultants. Not surprisingly, these newer, high-salaried “Virginians,” beholden to promoting Big Government policies and ideology, have pushed the once-conservative Old Dominion state further and further to the left. The most recent evidence of that is Governor-elect Spanberger. Among the institutions inside NoVA that are honeycombed with thousands of operatives selected and advanced by our “permanent government” overseers are the Pentagon, the CIA, the FBI Academy, the DEA Academy, the National Reconnaissance Office, the Defense Logistics Agency, the U.S. Marine Corps Base Quantico, Fort Myer, and Fort Belvoir.
CIA Democrats
A former CIA officer, Spanberger is one of dozens of Deep State operatives recruited by the Democratic National Committee from the intelligence and military services to offset the Democratic Party’s liberal-left image and to thwart President Trump’s America First agenda. Spanberger has been portrayed by the globalist-controlled Big Media as a “moderate” Democrat. Hah! Her lifetime score as a congresswoman on our Freedom Index is an abysmal seven percent. That’s an F-minus-minus, ranking her below such Democratic Marxist firebrands as Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (23 percent), Ilhan Omar (18 percent), and Hakeem Jeffries (14 percent). However, it is her connections to the Deerp State intelligence community that overshadows even her pro-socialist voting record. On September 23, 2019, Spanberger was one of seven House freshmen with national security backgrounds who penned an op-ed for The Washington Post calling for Trump’s impeachment, claiming, “The President’s actions violate his oath of office, endanger our national security, and betray the public trust.” Like Brennan, Clapper, and other D.C. Swamp Creatures, she continued to exploit her “national security” bonafides to undermine our Republic.
In truth, it is Spanberger and her Deep State collaborators inside and outside of government who truly endanger our national security and betray the public trust. And they have seized important high ground in the political sphere surrounding our nation’s capital.
