34 Unborn Babies Found Buried in Doctor’s Garden

Thirty-four unborn babies were found buried in the garden of a former home in southeastern Poland, a discovery that has shocked the traditionally Catholic nation and raised urgent questions about the treatment of the unborn.

The remains were uncovered during construction work at the property in the village of Lutoryz.

Prosecutors received a tip about medical waste last week and announced the find this week.

The 57-year-old pathologist who once lived there, Magdalena H., has been taken into custody.

Authorities say the doctor is suspected of using the unborn babies to perform experiments. She faces charges of desecrating corpses, improper handling of medical waste and abandoning hazardous materials in an unauthorized location. If convicted, she could be sentenced to up to 12 years in prison.

The pathologist has no previous criminal record.

A spokesman for the prosecutor’s office stated, “there is so far no evidence she had obtained the fetuses through illegal abortions.”

The case has stirred widespread controversy in Poland, which maintains some of the most pro-life abortion laws in Europe.

Many have expressed outrage over how the bodies of the unborn ended up buried in a private garden and over the alleged experiments conducted on them.
