Biden opened the door — Trump’s ICE is slamming it shut, one gang collar at a time.
One year into President Trump’s second term, the Department of Homeland Security says it has arrested 7,000 illegal immigrant gang members — a rogues’ gallery of murderers, kidnappers, and thieves who have either already been booted from the country or are on the way out for good.
DHS calls it a hard-earned milestone — and a sharp break from the Biden years, when open-border policies allegedly helped fuel a surge of illegal migrants entering the U.S. with little to no safety checks.
And the administration says this crackdown is exactly what it promised. “When we say we are targeting the worst of the worst, this is what exactly we mean,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Many of these were let in by Joe Biden and should have never been in this country. These vicious criminals murdered, assaulted, robbed, and terrorized innocent Americans for sport. But under President Trump’s and Secretary [Kristi] Noem’s leadership, ICE is turbocharged to arrest even more gang members and make America safe again.”
DHS says the coast-to-coast operations are unfolding in a climate of rising hostility toward immigration agents, claiming a more than 1,300% increase in assaults since the start of Trump’s second term.
And DHS isn’t shy about who it blames.
The agency says left-wing politicians have knowingly stoked anti-ICE rage to score political points, even as enforcement teams face danger on the ground.
The gang roundup spans more than a dozen groups, DHS says, including the Crips, Bloods, Norentos, MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Asian Boys, Trinitarios, the Latin Kings, and more.
