California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s latest social media jab — this time aimed at billionaire Elon Musk — drew unexpected blowback Friday from rapper Nicki Minaj, who unloaded on the Democratic governor in a series of pointed posts on X.
The 43-year-old “Beez in the Trap” artist suggested Newsom’s widely anticipated presidential ambitions are already faltering, mocking the California governor with biting commentary and images meant to underscore her criticism.
“Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy,” Minaj wrote in one post accompanied by photos of the horror character Chucky. “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.”
She followed with further advice, urging Newsom to abandon politics altogether. “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind,” she wrote. “It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.”
In additional posts, Minaj — who has recently signaled increased openness to Republican figures — derided Newsom as “the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was,” taking aim at his image-conscious political persona.
“Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible,” she added.
“Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that,” Minaj wrote in an earlier tweet.
Newsom’s office has been contacted for comment.
