Fake news CNN strikes again…
CNN host Abby Phillip incorrectly told viewers that New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani had been the target of an “attempted terror attack” over the weekend.
A claim that does not match what actually unfolded outside the mayor’s residence.

Phillip made the statement Tuesday night while previewing an upcoming segment on CNN NewsNight before a commercial break.
“Up next, two Republicans say Muslims don’t belong here after an attempted terror attack against New York’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani. And the House speaker, Mike Johnson, says nothing, really, to condemn those comments,” Phillip said. “Another special guest is going to be with us at the table when we come back,” Phillip said before the break.
But that characterization does not align with what authorities and reports indicated happened in New York.
Over the weekend, protesters gathered outside Gracie Mansion to demonstrate against Mamdani and what they called the “Islamic Takeover of New York City.” Counter-protesters also arrived, creating a tense but largely political standoff outside the mayor’s official residence.
Then, ISIS-inspired Emir Balat hurled an improvised explosive device (IED) at anti-Islamic protesters.
Mamdani was never a target.
