NEW YORK CITY — Joe Kent has resigned from the Trump administration despite the fact that doing so will lead to him being invited on a podcast tour and getting a six-figure book deal.
Kent resigned as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC), declaring that he could no longer in good conscience refuse all the offers to go on popular podcasts.
“I wish I had any other choice but to write a tell-all book about my experiences in the Trump administration,” sighed Kent. “It pains me deeply to leave my post, knowing that every news organization in the world will be desperate to give me fawning interviews. I do not lightly leave behind the great men and women I have worked with, everyday heroes that sadly will never get to go on a world podcast tour.”
Kent was appointed by President Trump in 2025 to lead the NCTC, lasting only seven months before bravely leaving his position. “It takes enormous courage to leave a government position for fame and money,” said CNN correspondent Kaitlan Collins. “We salute the tremendous sacrifice that Kent has made to travel the country raking in cash.”
At publishing time, Kent had announced he was reluctantly accepting a lucrative speaking tour across college campuses.
Do you think you can guess which one is the terrorist?
