WORD SALAD: Socialist Wisconsin Gov Frontrunner Squirms When Asked If She Still Wants to Cancel Thanksgiving [WATCH]

A socialist Democrat running to be Wisconsin’s next governor got visibly uncomfortable and unloaded a rambling word salad when a CNN anchor asked her point-blank whether she still wants to “cancel Thanksgiving.”

Francesca Hong, the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination in the Badger State, sparked outrage during the Covid pandemic when she declared the holiday needed to be scrapped because it celebrates “colonialism.” “We should have done this in 1621,” she wrote at the time, adding that it took “a worldwide pandemic for us to realize we should stop celebrating colonialism and the original superspreader event that killed Indegenous folx and women.”

CNN’s Kaitlan Collins confronted Hong with her own words Monday, asking whether she still believes it. Hong didn’t deny it — instead she launched into a 46-second, meandering non-answer.

“I’m a chef, and one of the first meals that I made that was for the community when I was 16 was a Thanksgiving meal,” Hong said. “I always think my hospitality background and owning a restaurant for 7-8 years, that bringing folks around the table to share conversation and build community is always a good thing.”

“But Thanksgiving is also a time that’s incredibly painful for many people in our communities,” she continued. “So I think there I wanted to make sure people understood there are multiple views, but views can evolve.”

Collins moved on without pressing further.

Thanksgiving isn’t the only holiday that’s triggered Hong. She’s gone on record griping about Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, the Fourth of July, Halloween and Christmas.

On the Fourth of July in 2022, she invoked Frederick Douglass to ask “what is the Fourth of July to us,” for those “seeing our liberties, freedom, and human rights systematically stripped away.” On Halloween, she once wrote she’d “ask every single person in costume to leave” if she could. Even Christmas wasn’t safe — in 2019 she complained an IT worker who changed her computer background to a snow scene made her “feel slightly attacked.”

Hong’s campaign did not respond to a request for comment on her holiday grievances.
