A mother and daughter say Atlanta Dream security threatened to eject them from Sunday’s WNBA game because other fans found their women’s-sports T-shirts “offensive.”
Georgia residents Kasey Thomason and her daughter, Annie, attended the Dream’s overtime clash with the Indiana Fever wearing shirts from XX-XY Athletics, a brand supporting the exclusion of biological men from women’s sports.
Kasey wore a stars-and-stripes XX-XY design. Annie’s Riley Gaines collaboration featured “XX” on the front and “For the Girls” on the back.

The pair sat two rows behind courtside without incident until midway through overtime, when a security guard approached and asked them to leave their seats to talk.
Kasey immediately asked whether the problem was their clothing.
According to the Thomasons, the guard said at least one fan had complained that the shirts were offensive. He allegedly gave them two choices: Cover the designs with Atlanta Dream “Wellness & Health Night” shirts or leave the arena.
“Biology and science is offensive?” Kasey responded.
The Thomasons reluctantly put on the replacement shirts rather than miss the final minutes of the Fever’s 95-91 victory.
ESPN footage showed them holding the tan Dream shirts with approximately two and a half minutes remaining. By the final 90 seconds, both had covered their original clothing.

State Farm Arena prohibits clothing and signs containing explicit language, profanity or “derogatory characterization towards any person.” The NBA Fan Code of Conduct similarly prohibits obscene or indecent messages.
The XX-XY shirts contained none of those words or images. According to the family, the guard cited only that someone considered their message offensive.
Kasey suspects the complaint came from a courtside spectator wearing a “Protect Trans Rights” shirt, although that has not been independently confirmed.
