KEARNEY, NE — The tide turned this morning in the upcoming national midterm elections after Beverly Franks from Nebraska put a political sign in her front yard.
Franks, 67, reportedly emerged from her home at approximately 8:14 a.m. carrying a bright red “THIS HOUSE VOTES RED” sign and planted it firmly into the grass near the sidewalk, instantly reshaping the national political landscape.
“I was driving to work, and I saw Beverly’s sign,” said neighbor Todd Erickson. “I’ve spent months carefully weighing inflation, foreign policy, taxes, immigration, and the candidates’ records. But then I saw that little rectangle of corrugated plastic and thought, ‘Well, that settles it.'”
Within minutes, political analysts across the country began scrambling to revise their projections.
“This changes everything,” said one veteran pollster while frantically erasing several swing states from a whiteboard. “We had Nebraska pretty well modeled, but our projections did not account for Beverly putting a sign out in her grass.”
Campaign officials were reportedly blindsided by the development, with several national organizations immediately redirecting millions of dollars in advertising toward convincing Franks to remove, rotate, or possibly replace the sign.
Neighbors said the political shockwave intensified when Franks stepped back from the sign, tilted her head, decided it was slightly crooked, and pushed the left stake another inch into the ground.
“Oh, wow,” whispered one local resident. “That’s conviction.”
By lunchtime, cable news networks had stationed correspondents outside Franks’s home to provide minute-by-minute coverage, including speculation over whether a second sign might appear closer to the driveway.
At publishing time, the opposing party had reportedly regained some momentum after a woman three houses down placed a bumper sticker on her Subaru.
