Aborting Babies Because They Have Down Syndrome is Wrong. Period. End of Story

When I hear the phrase “Down syndrome,” I cannot help but think of my friend Chloe.

I met Chloe when she was a preschooler, filled with energy and enthusiasm for life.

Her light has not dimmed over the years.

Has she had health challenges? Yes, but she has also achieved so many milestones–from speaking at the United Nations to speaking with the President of the United States.

She has met world-renowned musicians and famous sports stars. And she has charmed them all.

Chloe reminds me of what is best about humanity. She is a blessing in every sense of the word.

When I hear about an Internet influencer announcing to the world that he and his wife are aborting their child because of a Down syndrome diagnosis, I wish he could have met Chloe and her parents before making that lethal decision. Perhaps he could have been persuaded by the love that Chloe carries for everyone–even those who would abort people like her.

Targeting unborn children for abortion because they carry an extra chromosome is wrong. Period. End of story.

Let us all resolve to educate our fellow humans about the joy these children bring to the world. The world is sorely in need of it, after all.
