Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich stopped by Hannity Tuesday night to discuss President Trump’s impact on Europe after Politico conceded just how influential the POTUS is overseas.
“The Most Influential Man in Europe,” Politico named him — but Gingrich has a warning.
“I look at Europe, and I worry,” Hannity said, citing unchecked immigration and authoritative rulings that limit free speech and expression.
“I think you have elites who are basically under siege,” Gingrich said. “In all these countries, you have popular discontent on a big scale. And so the governments have adopted policies of repression, which I think are amazing. The British have a series of laws now that are just crazy, but I think it’s desperation. The French have lied for two generations about the impact of letting in people who totally reject French culture and western civilization — it’s not complicated.”
Gingrich continued: “I thought the new Trump national security paper was really important, because it sent a clear signal to the Europeans. Not that we don’t like them. But that we are seriously concerned about Europe’s decay.”
Gingrich also discussed Vice President JD Vance’s early speeches to Europe, and agreed with the sentiments: “You have to clean up your act — America cannot do it for you. And America in the long run cannot prop you up if you refuse to reform your system.”
