As America Celebrates a 250th Birthday, We Need to Give Unborn Babies Their Own

What do you have against us?

That is the question I can imagine coming from those who are aborted.

They have committed no crime, no infraction of any kind. They are blameless in a world filled with inequity. They have injured no one, yet they are subjected to the most profound of injuries. A death sentence is carried out against them because of the circumstances of their conception.

The monumental injustice of abortion is apparent to those with eyes to see and ears to hear. It is a complete corruption of the family and leaves incredible devastation in its wake. It turns mothers against fathers and grandparents against mothers. Research also shows that, in more than 60 percent of cases, it is a result of coercion, with women having abortions they don’t even want.

As we as a nation celebrate our 250th birthday, we have much to celebrate. We remain a beacon of freedom to countries across the globe. We have achieved astounding technological feats and serve as the breadbasket to the world. We are the envy of many.

And yet, we carry a stain caused by the avoidable deaths of more than a million babies a year. Their silent cries pierce the souls of those who mourn them. What a terrible trauma women endure from the ravages of abortion.

As we reach a milestone as a nation, let us redouble our efforts to eradicate abortion, the intentional killing of an innocent, unrepeatable human life. Let us educate and motivate people to find peaceful solutions to the problems which arise from an unintended pregnancy. And let us strive to rebuild a culture of life in the country we call home.
