Baseball Manager Pins Loss On Fan Who Failed To Put His Lucky Socks On Today

KANSAS CITY, MO — Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro pinned the team’s loss on local fan Jim Greller, who failed to put on his lucky socks today.

After losing 0-2 to the Chicago White Sox, Quatraro looked up accusingly to section 317, Row 5, where Greller was sitting with his regular white socks.

“It’s disappointing. All he had to do was wear the lucky socks, and he couldn’t get it done,” said Quatraro at the post-game press conference. “They were washed and ready to go. Our team worked to prepare, to be ready to go out and execute, and there’s frankly no excuse for Greller not having the socks on. Every person has to play their role, it’s a team game. Jim just didn’t show up today.”

According to family, Greller was stung by Quatraro’s assessment, but has taken full responsibility for the loss. “It wasn’t until the 4th inning that it dawned on me what I’d done,” said Greller. “I was reaching down for my hot dog when I saw my white socks and it hit me. I had completely forgotten the lucky ones, the baby blue socks with the little diamond pattern. I apologize to all of Royals nation. I’m going to put in the work in the laundry room and come back better.”

At publishing time, the Royals had sadly lost again, but this time due to fan Kelly Molder in section 306 failing to wear a rally cap in the 9th inning.

Steve and Timpani’s continued adjustment to all things Texas hits a speed bump when Timpani’s sister, Brittuni, arrives.
