California Sen. Scott Wiener Says Anti-Israel Protesters Forced Him Out Of San Francisco Trans March

No matter how left they are, it’s never enough…

California state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) said he was forced to leave San Francisco’s annual Trans March on Friday after a group of anti-Israel demonstrators surrounded and confronted him over his views on the war in Gaza.

The confrontation, captured in a viral video at Dolores Park as Pride Weekend began, showed several people encircling Wiener while shouting profanity-laced insults.

“We f—ing hate you!” multiple demonstrators yelled as the Democratic lawmaker attempted to walk away.

The video, posted to X by Dimitry Yakoushkin, shows Yakoushkin criticizing Wiener’s position on Israel’s war against Hamas.

“I think your policy on the genocide is terrible!” Yakoushkin shouted. “I think you do not belong here!”

As Wiener continued walking, Yakoushkin accused the senator of betraying the LGBT community because of his support for Israel.

“You’ve been terrible on Gaza! You do not belong here anymore Scott and it breaks my f—ing heart!” Yakoushkin said. “It breaks my heart that someone who wrote good legislation for queers is so f—ing terrible on Gaza!”

Another demonstrator claimed Wiener had forfeited his place in the LGBT community over his support for Israel.

“You stopped being queer the moment you started supporting Israel!” the person shouted.

In a statement after the incident, Wiener said he had attended every Trans March since the inaugural event in 2004 and had been walking through Dolores Park to attend a trans-led Pride Shabbat service when the confrontation began.

“As I walked through Dolores Park to participate in a trans-led Pride Shabbat service in connection with the trans march, a group of people began screaming at me, ran up to me, surrounded me, and began harassing me, both verbally and physically, including physical contact,” Wiener said.

According to Wiener, some demonstrators also invoked his Jewish identity during the confrontation.

“They made statements about my ‘Israeli handlers,’ among many other inaccurate, extreme, and vile statements,” he said. “They were so physically and verbally aggressive that it was impossible for me to safely remain in the park.”
