Carnegie Mellon Reviews Uju Anya Over ‘Threatening’ Posts

A Carnegie Mellon professor who told a critic to “die first, white man” is now under university review.

Dr. Uju Anya is on voluntary professional leave and not teaching this academic year as Carnegie Mellon examines what it calls her “hostile and threatening” social media posts.

The latest firestorm started when an old post celebrating Rush Limbaugh’s 2021 death resurfaced.

“Rush Limbaugh finally did something positive in life by dropping dead. Good Riddance to bad rubbish,” Anya had written.

When another user asked why she appeared to celebrate the deaths of white people, Anya fired back: “Die first, white man, then ask yourself why I’m dancing.”

Elon Musk amplified the exchange Friday, writing, “This is a real professor at Carnegie Mellon University …”

That sent people digging through Anya’s old posts — and there was plenty to find.

In 2022, as Queen Elizabeth II was dying, Anya wrote: “May her pain be excruciating.” Carnegie Mellon publicly condemned that post at the time as “offensive and objectionable.”

Recent reports also highlighted posts celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death.

Anya initially mocked critics who threatened to contact Carnegie Mellon, claiming the university knew exactly who it had hired.

“Carnegie Mellon University knows exactly who they have,” she wrote, according to the New York Post, boasting that the school had aggressively recruited her.

She also claimed her department chair was throwing complaint emails “in the trash.”

Then Carnegie Mellon weighed in publicly.

“We are deeply concerned by recent hostile and threatening social media posts by Dr. Anya and are reviewing this matter closely,” the university said Saturday. “These posts incorrectly imply our university’s endorsement and are contrary to our community standards and values.”
