To millions, Norris was the embodiment of toughness. On screen, he built a reputation as an unstoppable force, blending martial arts mastery with a no-nonsense, law-and-order persona that defined an era of action television.

To those closest to him, he was something else entirely.

“To the world, he was a martial artist, actor, and a symbol of strength. To us, he was a devoted husband, a loving father and grandfather, an incredible brother, and the heart of our family,” his family said.

They described a man guided by conviction and faith.

“He lived his life with faith, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to the people he loved,” the statement continued, adding that he “inspired millions around the world and left a lasting impact … through his work, discipline, and kindness.”

Norris’s influence stretched far beyond Hollywood. His disciplined image, personal code, and enduring screen presence made him a cultural touchstone for generations of fans who saw in him a throwback to a more rugged, principled kind of hero.

“While our hearts are broken, we are deeply grateful for the life he lived and for the unforgettable moments we were blessed to share with him,” the family said.

They also acknowledged an outpouring of concern in recent days.

“The love and support he received from fans around the world meant so much to him, and our family is truly thankful for it. To him, you were not just fans, you were his friends.”

The family confirmed that many had “heard about his recent hospitalization” and thanked supporters for their prayers.

“As we grieve this loss, we kindly ask for privacy for our family during this time,” the statement concluded.

One of the last true icons of old-school action is gone.
