Democrats Vote to Keep Government Closed for 13th Time

The Schumer Shutdown rolls on.

Democrats on Tuesday voted for the 13th time to keep the federal government shut, even as Senate Majority Leader John Thune warned that millions of Americans are about to lose access to food assistance.

“The simplest way to end it and the simplest way to make sure that people are getting the food assistance they need is to pick up the bill and give us five votes,” Thune said in an exclusive interview after the Senate failed to reopen the government in a 54-45 vote.

“And we’ll, we’ll send it to the president. It’ll be signed into law.”

Nearly 42 million Americans rely on SNAP benefits to help buy food. But monthly payments won’t go out on Saturday, Nov. 1 — a direct result of the ongoing government shutdown.

Thirteen votes, no progress — and millions left wondering when their next meal will be paid for. Thanks, Chuck.
