DSA Activist Calls Democrat Takeover a ‘Violent Process’

A Democratic Socialists of America activist is openly talking about taking control of the Democratic Party — and calling the process “violent.”

Michael Beyer, a DSA member and left-wing streamer known online as MikeFromPA, made the remarks in footage circulated by Canary Mission and DSA Watch.

“The Democratic Party establishment that we have has to be ripped out,” Beyer said.

Then he went further.

“We can actually start to grab hold of the ship of state and steer it in our direction, but it’s going to be a violent process.”

The comments land as the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) builds a larger foothold inside Democratic politics through candidates, primaries and local organizations — while establishment Democrats openly worry about the party being pulled further left.

Beyer is not some Republican caricature of the movement.

DSA itself has previously profiled him as a longtime member and prominent socialist streamer.

The compilation also featured Oliver Larkin, the DSA-backed Florida congressional candidate who challenged Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz this year.

“This Democratic Party needs to change,” Larkin said.

He also defended appearing with socialist streamer Hasan Piker.

“I was more than glad to go on Hasan’s podcast,” Larkin said. “As Democrats, we need to go into these spaces.”

Larkin lost his Aug. 18 primary to Moskowitz, but DSA’s broader electoral push has scored major victories elsewhere, most prominently with Zohran Mamdani’s election as New York City mayor.
