KANSAS CITY, KS — With economic concerns still growing across the United States, one local family explained that they feel they have been hit especially hard by the price of necessities like gas, groceries, Netflix, DoorDash, Discount Wine Club, and their Pie-of-the-Month subscription, and other basic essentials.
The Williams family expressed anxiety over the increasing cost of living for the middle class, saying the cost of essentials like food, utilities, HBO Max, HelloFresh, Planet Fitness, Amazon Prime, and Loot Crate has risen to an amount that now makes it difficult to subsist at even the most basic level.
“We’re just barely able to squeak by,” said Jeff Williams, husband to Lily and father to three children. “Prices are really getting out of hand. Not only are we feeling squeezed by how much it’s costing to feed our family, but I’m really struggling to make my monthly payment for my pie subscription. Times are really tough right now.”
Though the family has been able to survive so far, Lily admitted to feeling anxious about what the future holds. “It’s just not the American Dream anymore,” she said. “Not only is it expensive just to keep the lights on and the fiber optic internet up, but other basic needs like our full-service lawn and landscaping or things like Disney Plus, Peacock, and ButcherBox are just putting a strain on everything.”
At publishing time, the Williams family said that if things continue this way, they might have to think about decreasing their monthly budget for Amiibo figures.
