From Whence The Antisemitism – The Hugh Hewitt Show

Everybody knows that antisemitism is rising rapidly in the nation – it is truly frightening.  It is a prejudice that I thought, given the horrors of Nazism, was never to be seen again.  Its current rise is proof of mankind’s sinful state – confirming Chesterton’s thesis that our sinful nature is the only objectively provable contention of Christian theology.  The path it has taken to regain prominence is remarkable and terrifying at the same time.  There are two factors involved.

Let’s start by observing that the places where DSA candidates have taken root and succeeded are urban areas, or voting units dominated by an urban area, with a large Islamic population and that the candidates involved are themselves often Islamic.  These populations have grown significantly due to the open door immigration policies of prior administrations.  To deny that there is a political alliance of some sort between Islamic immigrants and the D.S.A. is to deny the obvious.  I doubt there are secret strategic conferences or master plans, but the correlation is too strong to deny.

That vast swathes of Islam not only hate Jews but devote themselves to the destruction of the nation of Israel and Jews generally is an undeniable fact that has dominated the geopolitics of the Middle East since the end of WWII.  The large influx of Islamic immigrants must have brought this Jew-hatred with it.  In an extremely warped version of the American dream, it is inevitable that political leadership would arise from within that cohort and organize it to seek office.  This actually happened with the rise of the now passé “Squad.”

Then along came the pandemic, the response to which was born of entirely socialistic principles – thus reinforcing socialistic ideals for many. Of course, someone was going to capitalize on that politically.  As states and municipalities forced people to stay home and live on largesse, a couple of younger generations came to think of such a socialistic situation as normal and acceptable.

It was inevitable that these two political trends would meet and reinforce each other.  In the meeting, they gain political mass.  While it is astonishing that a political ideal rooted in the concept of everyone sharing equally would have truck with an ideology devoted to the destruction of an entire race of people – nothing succeeds like success and a political win is a political win.  Hence the alliance.  While the numbers pale in comparison to the Nazi’s, the Soviet Union was undeniably built on the backs slaughtered Jews in an analogous alliance.

While I have thought along these lines for quite a while now, I have hesitated to write about it because I lack evidence, I have only correlation and conjecture.  That is until this tweet from Rod Dreher over the weekend:

As Dreher says, that is about as blunt as things can get.  History teaches us that people do not choose socialism, it is forced upon them.  Apparently, for those devoted to socialistic ideals, if it is necessary to build a political alliance with violent hatred to obtain the necessary force then so be it.  The fact that such use of force completely destroys the charitable impulse that is the claimed heart of socialism seems to matter not.

I used to think that we were cursed to live in interesting times.  No more, we are currently cursed to live in very troubling times.
