Both things need to get a lot more respect than they frequently do these days.
And I especially want to congratulate Mrs. Paco on the anniversary of her naturalization as a U.S. citizen. The second photo above is of the massive naturalization ceremony that was held in the Orange Bowl 42 years ago today. Mrs. Paco is somewhere in that big crowd of nearly 10,000 new citizens. VP George H.W. Bush appeared and made a speech, and the crowd erupted with “Four more years!” (Reagan and Bush were running for a second term that year).
Mrs. Paco fulfilled her dream of becoming a U.S. citizen, Reagan was reelected in a landslide, and the Detroit Tigers won the World Series. What a great year that was!
