Hasan Piker Sparks Backlash With Charlie Kirk Meme Song

Hasan Piker once said Charlie Kirk’s assassination shook him.

Over the weekend, he took the stage and led a laughing crowd in a meme song widely used to mock him.

Every Democratic candidate who appears with Piker should have to answer for this.

The far-left streamer broke into “We Are Charlie Kirk” during a Friday stop of his Fear & LIVE tour in San Francisco, singing along as his co-hosts laughed and the audience cheered.

“We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame. We’ll fight for the Gospel, we’ll honor his name,” Piker sang.

Video of the moment spread quickly online.

The song surfaced days after Kirk was assassinated in Utah last September. Styled like a Christian power ballad, it has since become a recurring online joke aimed at Kirk.

That context made Piker’s performance land very differently with the right.

“Hasan Piker is engaging in pure, unadulterated evil,” Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet wrote on X.

Washington Free Beacon reporter Chuck Ross pointed to an especially uncomfortable piece of history: Piker had been scheduled to debate Kirk just days after the assassination and initially spoke publicly about how deeply the killing affected him.

“He’s just a trash human being,” Ross wrote. “Now, he’s mocking it all for the pleasure of his loser fans.”

Piker appeared to lean into the controversy afterward, posting a photo from the show with the caption, “carried the flame tn” — an apparent nod to the song’s refrain.

Piker has campaigned alongside prominent democratic socialist candidates, including Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed, and has become an increasingly visible figure in the party’s fight over how much influence its socialist wing should wield.

That makes Friday’s spectacle harder for Democrats to dismiss as just another edgy internet joke.

A man increasingly embraced by candidates on the left stood before a cheering theater and turned the assassination of one of America’s most prominent young leaders into a punch line.

During a live show a few days later, Piker attempted to walk back his “America deserved 9/11” comment — and the crowd booed.
