Israel-First Fox News talker Mark Levin is fuming over the news that President Trump upbraided Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday in a phone call in which the two discussed Israel’s attacks on southern Lebanon.
Levin claimed that Iran will benefit from the leak, in which officials described Trump’s calling Netanyahu crazy, and the attacks in Lebanon as the reason public support for Israel has tanked.
Levin is obsessed with leaks, and after U.S. counterterrorism chief Joe Kent resigned from his post over the war on Iran, he accused the former Green Beret of leaking Levin’s meeting with President Trump to podcaster Tucker Carlson.
The Phone Call, Axios Report
On Truth Social, President Trump portrayed the phone as amicable and “productive,” and wrote that Israel’s attacks in southern Lebanon would cease.
“There will be no Troops going to Beirut, and any Troops that are on their way, have already been turned back,” Trump wrote.
“Likewise, through highly placed Representatives, I had a very good call with Hezbollah, and they agreed that all shooting will stop — That Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel.”
Netanyahu disagreed. Israel, he wrote afterward on X, would continue attacks wherever and whenever it wished.
Israel’s “stance … remains unchanged,” he wrote, and Israel will proceed as it has. “In parallel, the IDF will continue to operate as planned in southern Lebanon.”
Axios disclosed, however, that Trump raged at Netanyahu and apparently put him in his place; that is, Trump is the boss.
Two sources told the website that Trump explained that Netanyahu would be in prison without Trump’s intervention, and that “everybody hates Israel” because of its recent military operations.
“Summarizing Trump’s remarks to Netanyahu, the U.S. official said: ‘You’re f**king crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this,’” Axios reported:
A second source briefed on the call said Trump was “p**sed” and at one point yelled at Netanyahu: “What the f**k are you doing?”
The U.S. official said Trump knew Hezbollah had been shooting at Israel and that Israel needed to defend itself, but felt in recent days that Netanyahu was escalating in a disproportionate way.
Levin Reacts, Leak Obsession
As is his custom, Levin, who bills himself as “The Great One,” exploded in fury.
“THE LEAK IN AXIOS WAS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW AND PROVIDED SUPPORT TO THE IRANIAN REGIME AND ITS HEZBOLLAH PROXY,” the Israel-First bloviator fumed on X:
Whomever leaked that story to Barack Ravid at Axios did a grave disservice to our country, to our president, to Israel, and to Israel’s prime minister. The Iranian regime will benefit from that leak, viewing us as weak and desperate for a deal — even coming to Hezbollah’s defense. The Israeli people will also be furious. The missiles are aimed at them, not Washington.
Levin claimed the leak was not only a “devastating political hit on Netanyahu,” but also one that has harmed U.S. military and diplomatic strategy.
“If the leakers or others believe Israel should abandon its survival for some deal, they will have a very hard lesson to learn,” he wrote:
If the substance of the call is accurate, it is bad enough in my view.
Will there be an FBI investigation to determine who leaked? If not, why not?
Levin seems to be obsessed with leaks.
On March 17, when Kent resigned as director of the National Counterterrorism Center because Trump ordered an attack on Iran at Israel’s behest, Levin wrote that “the SOB who leaked my meeting last year with POTUS to Qatarlson? And Gabbard didn’t fire him?” Code for Tucker Carlson, Qatarlson is the insinuation that the wildly popular podcaster is on the payroll of a foreign country.
After that, the Fox talker continued the deranged, possibly defamatory rant. He called Kent a leaker, a “supremacist” and “antisemite.”
“Did Joe Kent leak classified information to the media and Woke Reich neo-Fascists in violation of the Espionage Act?” he wrote on X:
Did any of the parties to whom he reportedly/allegedly leaked share the information with Qatar or other countries? What did Qatarlson mean when he volunteered in his video statement that his texts were reviewed by the CIA and he was under investigation for violating FARA? Who told him that? Just asking questions and seeking answers.
Then Levin accused Kent of cavorting with “neo-Nazis.”
“Did ‘the Jews’ make Joe Kent reportedly/allegedly leak classified information?” he fumed:
Did Bibi Netanyahu? The Mossad? Did they force him to undermine our POTUS/commander-in-chief? Did they convince him to stab our president in the back and write a letter our enemies will use for propaganda? Did they cause him to become a supremacist and antisemite, and to do interviews on neo-Nazi shows? Inquiring minds want to know.
Levin also wanted to know who recommended Kent for his position. When Kent appeared on Levin’s radio program, Levin asked Kent whether he was a leaker. Kent, a combat veteran, denied leaking anything.
Use Nukes
But labeling those who oppose war on Iran “haters” and “antisemites” is merely irresponsible. Levin’s implicitly counseling Trump to use nuclear weapons in Iran was downright frightening.
Levin cited the hundreds of thousands of casualties of the major battles of World War II — Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge, and Iwo Jima, Okinawa, and Guadalcanal — to explain President Harry Truman’s decision to drop the atom bomb on Japan … twice.
That’s “what convinced Truman that we’d lose a million men if we didn’t drop the atomic bombs that we did,” Levin said.
