First lady Melania Trump is calling on ABC to fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel after he referred to her as “an expectant widow” during a parody tied to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner—just days before a gunman opened fire near the event.
“Kimmel’s hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country,” Melania Trump wrote on X Monday. “His monologue about my family isn’t comedy—his words are corrosive and deepens the political sickness within America.”
She escalated further, accusing the network of shielding him.

“People like Kimmel shouldn’t have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate,” she wrote. “A coward, Kimmel hides behind ABC because he knows the network will keep running cover to protect him. Enough is enough.”

Kimmel’s remark came during a parody segment last week tied to the White House press dinner.
“Our first lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” he said.
Days later, the tone of the moment shifted dramatically.
Authorities say a 31-year-old suspect, identified by multiple outlets as Cole Allen of California, rushed a Secret Service checkpoint outside the Washington Hilton on Saturday night, armed with multiple weapons, before being subdued. One agent was struck but survived, and the suspect is now in custody.
President Donald Trump, the first lady, and other officials were evacuated as chaos unfolded inside the ballroom, where hundreds of attendees took cover.
Investigators are still working to determine motive, though early reports indicate the suspect may have acted alone and could have been targeting administration officials.
