National Day of Remembrance on Will Mourn 66 Million Babies Killed in Abortions

Pro-life advocates across the United States will gather on Saturday, September 12, for the 14th annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children.

On that day to mourn the deaths of  over 66 million babies killed in abortions since Roe v. Wade in January 1973, pro-life advocates nationwide will be holding prayer vigils at gravesites and memorial sites dedicated to the unborn.

Participants will visit burial places of aborted children and other memorials to mourn the millions of lives lost to abortion, humanize the victims, and recommit to ending abortion.

The 2025 observance was held at 232 locations nationwide with thousands in attendance.

“Mourn with us for the precious children killed by abortion,” said Brian Gibson, chief executive officer of Pro-Life Action Ministries about this year’s event. “These ceremonies ARE ALL the innocent, aborted unborn child will ever receive in this world. By participating, you are helping to humanize our aborted brothers and sisters. This is a beautiful and effective way to provide important public witness to the Sanctity of Life. The National Day of Remembrance helps pro-lifers re-commit themselves to the Cause of Life! This day also offers hope and healing to women who have had abortions and others who have been hurt by abortion.”

The National Day of Remembrance encourages prayer at solemn sites, public witness to the dignity of every human life, and support for those wounded by abortion. Organizers note that now that Roe v. Wade has been overturned, it remains crucial to mourn the lives lost and work to extend legal protection to children in the womb in every state.

In the Twin Cities area, a vigil is planned for 10 a.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Minnesota, remembering 13 aborted babies whose remains were recovered from a clinic dumpster in 1987.

Recent figures show abortions rose 1.2 percent in the first three months of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025, reaching 296,130. Chemical abortion pills distributed through telehealth have driven much of the increase in the deaths of little babies before birth, especially in pro-life states with abortion bans where sellers of the dangerous abortion pill are actively evading pro-life laws.

Pro-life groups invite people to locate a memorial nearby, host a service where none is scheduled, or join a vigil to honor the unborn and advance the cause of life.
