Newly Engaged Couple Sets Up Wedding Registry At Chevron Station

VAN NUYS, CA — Newly engaged couple Barrett Brown and Melissa McClaren excitedlywedding registry at a local Chevron station, sources close to the happy couple said.

“We are asking our friends and family to please buy us gas,” McClaren said. “Other gifts are nice and everything, but paying for our gas is the most loving thing people can do for us.”

According to sources, with gas prices at all-time highs, many young couples are flocking to gas stations to register for unleaded gas ahead of their wedding day. In former days, couples would typically visit a department store to register for household appliances like toasters and blenders, but in light of the rising cost of oil, it’s becoming paramount that newlyweds start their relationship off with a heavy stockpile of gasoline.

McClaren has asked her wedding guests to please stick to the items as registered. “We don’t need candy bars or soda from the convenience store, just buy gas,” she said. However, sources confirmed that the groom wouldn’t be opposed to a nice hot dog.

The recent trend of registering for wedding gifts at a gas station appeared to have been started by advice received from economic adviser Dave Ramsey. “Unleaded gas is a great way for newlyweds to get a head start in life,” he said. “I also advise they keep envelopes full of gasoline in a safe space for any gas-related emergencies.”

At publishing time, wedding guests who said they were unable to afford gas were asked not to come to the wedding.
