American Life League recently wrote about the back-and-forth legal battle over whether the abortion pill, mifepristone, can be mailed to those receiving telehealth prescriptions. After the Fifth Circuit Court suspended the mailing of the abortion pill on May 1, the US Supreme Court put a temporary pause on this ruling through May 11. However, the Supreme Court placed another pause through May 14, allowing abortion drugs to continue flowing through the mailing system at the hands of “abortion providers” such as Planned Parenthood.
Unsurprisingly, Planned Parenthood’s affiliates began to announce—almost immediately after the initial ruling—how they would work around this new ruling to ensure that women are able to murder their babies easily if the court’s ruling stood. Some of these affiliates seemingly appeared to ignore the court order from the start.

Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington, DC announced in a press release that it “will always stand against attacks on abortion, including medication abortion, and will never stop providing abortion care for patients who need it.”
Planned Parenthood of Greater New York said that it “anticipated this cruelty, and [is] prepared.” It then stated, “We will continue to show up for our patients in person, online, and through the Planned Parenthood Direct app. Our doors remain open, our screens remain on, and our fight for your right to compassionate abortion care remains unwavering” (emphasis added).
Planned Parenthood of Michigan stated that it would continue to provide “safe and legal medication abortion in-person and via telehealth to everyone who is relying on” it.
And Planned Parenthood of Southern New England said that it would continue to provide “medication abortion, including via telemedicine, through evidence-based options, in compliance with all laws and regulations. PPSNE encourages patients not to delay their care.”
These statements were all made on May 1 or May 2, before a temporary stay was placed by the Supreme Court.
However, one affiliate announced that it would work around the potential ban. Nicole Clegg, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England’s CEO, announced that PPNNE would switch to “misoprostol-only” abortions if mifepristone were made illegal to dispense via telehealth. While misoprostol is used for stomach ulcers and labor induction, the abortion industry has long used it as an abortifacient both on its own and in the abortion pill regimen with mifepristone when used up through 12 weeks gestation, causing great harm and/or death to the baby and mother. Planned Parenthood’s own website admits that misoprostol-only abortions “work” 85%-95% of the time.
While STOPP hopes and prays that the Supreme Court upholds the Fifth Circuit’s ruling to end telehealth access to mifepristone, we must remain aware of the workarounds that Planned Parenthood and others in the culture of death will continue to devise so they can profit from the killing of preborn children. This case is only the beginning, and we still have much work to do to stop abortion.
