Planned Parenthood Wants All Women to Buy Abortion Pills “Just in Case”

Wouldn’t you know it? An affiliate of good old Planned Parenthood has come up a cutesy way of describing off-loading abortion pills in advance of a “need.” They call it “just in case.” You know, a woman’s not pregnant now but….

“This is the first time a Planned Parenthood organization is offering abortion medication ahead of pregnancy,” Emma Caires writes. “The goal is for patients to have it on hand so that they can end their pregnancy at home, on their own time, without needing to make an additional appointment.”

“PPGNHAIK” stands for Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawaiʻi, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky. In a press release PPGNHAIK boasts that it

is proud to offer safe, simple, and effective medication abortion for future use. For patients in Hawai‘i and Washington, Just in Case Abortion Pills offer peace of mind for patients who are not currently pregnant and want to keep abortion medication on-hand — just in case. Call us to schedule an appointment. Established patients can book online through MyChart at the link.”

I was going to write that you can’t make this stuff up—this is so cavalier, so disdainful—but, of course, nothing but nothing is beneath an affiliate of the largest abortion “provider” in the United States.

Dr. Colleen McNicholas is the Chief of Clinical Transformation Officer at PPGNHAIK. In Caires’s story that appeared on the webpage of Hawaiʻi Public Radio, McNicholas is quoted saying that

unwanted pregnancy can be a stressful time for patients, which can be heightened when navigating the steps of booking an appointment.

“This gives people the opportunity to take that control back and say, ‘hey, I might not ever need this, but if I do, I have it already and I’m not going to have to worry about navigating all of those logistics.’”

She added

“I think that we are in a scary time for access to sexual reproductive health care, but one of the things I think that we feel obligated to do in this moment, especially because we have such supportive states like Hawaiʻi, is not only to hold the line with access, but to push those boundaries and to expand where we can.”

Indeed, the Abortion Industrial Complex must ever and always “push boundaries” and “expand” the killing “where we can.”

One last thought. In PPGNHAIK’s  press release announcing the “just in case” initiative, we learn

“At Planned Parenthood, we are committed to getting patients the care they need, when — and before — they need it,” said Rebecca Gibron, CEO of PPGNHAIK. “We’re incredibly proud to be launching Just In Case Abortion Pills — the next step in making abortion care more accessible, more convenient, and more responsive to the realities of patients’ lives. When someone does not want to be pregnant, timing matters. Just In Case Abortion Pills give that person the ability to act quickly and confidently. In states like Washington and Hawai‘i, where leaders support reproductive freedom, we have an opportunity and an obligation to not only protect abortion access but also to expand it.”

Oh, by the way,

Patients 18 or older in Hawai’i and Washington can schedule a telehealth appointment or visit a Planned Parenthood clinic to receive the pills.

How long are they good for?

They last up to two years
