Rogers Rips El-Sayed for Not Condemning the IRGC [WATCH]

Michigan Republican Senate nominee Mike Rogers unloaded on Democratic rival Abdul El-Sayed Thursday night after El-Sayed declined to give an unequivocal condemnation of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps when confronted by an Iranian-American student.

“This guy is just so completely dishonest,” Rogers told Fox News’ Sean Hannity, accusing El-Sayed of serving up a “word salad” instead of answering a straightforward question.

The confrontation came at an El-Sayed town hall in Ann Arbor.

Iranian-American student Iman Dashti told El-Sayed his cousin had been hunted by the IRGC over her hijab and his uncle had been sentenced to death and lashed by Iran’s government.

Then he asked El-Sayed directly whether he stood “unequivocally against the IRGC” and the Islamic Republic.

El-Sayed did not give him a direct yes.

Rogers pounced.

“He couldn’t condemn the IRGC, which has American blood on its hands in Iraq,” Rogers said, pointing to the group’s role in attacks that killed U.S. troops and an Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador in Washington.

“He wants to make sure you don’t know exactly where he stands,” Rogers charged. “Tell us who you are, Abdul. Tell us where you stand on these things. Pick your team.”

The clash lands in one of the country’s most closely watched Senate races, where El-Sayed’s foreign-policy views have become a major Republican line of attack.
