Reality television personality and independent mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt filed formal complaints Tuesday accusing Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass of violating California election law by allegedly campaigning too close to a ballot drop box.
“Karen Bass just violated election law here,” Pratt wrote on X.
He accused the mayor of openly flouting election rules and said his campaign had filed a formal complaint seeking an investigation.

“She is so accustomed to breaking the law with no accountability, she even filmed herself doing it,” Pratt wrote. “Well, those days are over. We just filed a formal complaint for illegally gaming the election. We must protect our democracy.”
The dispute centers on a campaign video that Pratt says shows Bass encouraging voters while standing near a ballot drop box.
California law generally prohibits electioneering within 100 feet of a ballot drop box or polling location, including soliciting votes or displaying campaign materials within the restricted zone.
Pratt argued the video constituted a clear violation.
“Electioneering within 100 feet of a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW. Soliciting votes at a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW,” he wrote.

The mayor’s campaign quickly pushed back.
“Spencer is just mad that his supporters are AI cartoons and we have real Angelenos. We follow the rules,” Bass spokesman Alex Stack told Fox News Digital.
Stack said Pratt’s allegations are “blatantly false” and maintained that the campaign took steps to comply with election regulations.
According to the campaign, the video was filmed at two separate locations. One segment featuring campaign signs was recorded more than 200 feet from the ballot box, while another segment filmed near the ballot box contained no campaign signage.
Pratt’s attorney, Peter McNulty, argued in the complaint that the city should investigate Bass for alleged “illegal electioneering.” He also said a separate complaint had been submitted to state authorities because of what he described as the seriousness of the allegations.
