SAN FERNANDO, CA — An existing scandal was made even worse over the weekend, as a statue of the late union laborist and political activist Cesar Chavez allegedly groped a young woman as it was being taken down.
The well-known Mexican-American leader posthumously came under fire last week as claims arose that he had engaged in sexual abuse of young girls during his life, leading to calls for monuments dedicated to him to be taken down. One such statue reportedly got in one last sexual assault as it was being removed.
“In death, just as he was in life,” said California Governor Gavin Newsom when he was told about the groping. “Cesar Chavez was a giant here in the Latino community in California, and indeed internationally. He will always be remembered for being an outspoken champion for workers, a leading voice in the civil rights movement, and, apparently, getting handsy with young ladies. We all aspire to be Cesar Chavez one day.”
The incident occurred as one female city worker reported that the statue touched her inappropriately as it was being lowered. “It just grabbed me,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified. “I know it’s just a statue and everything, but I gave no consent to being touched in that way. It should be ashamed of itself. Or himself. Or whatever.”
At publishing time, Los Angeles officials had asked all sexual deviants to only grope and assault victims on Cesar E. Chavez Avenue as a touching tribute to the late activist.
Do you think you can guess which one is the terrorist?
