President Trump said Friday he is banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House “effective immediately,” accusing all three outlets of repeatedly reporting “Fake News.”
And he warned more could be next.
“I am banning Fake News CNN, MSNOW … and Politico … from the White House as a result of their constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!” Trump wrote on TRUTH Social.

“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” he added.
“Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
The White House has already been fighting in court over how much discretion a president has to restrict press access.
Trump says CNN, MSNBC and Politico are banned from the White House immediately — a sweeping move against three of the most prominent outlets in Washington.
Trump accused the outlets of reporting “fiction,” “lies” and “Fake News” — citing their coverage as the grounds for the ban.
All three have participated in White House press operations or pool rotations — making their removal a significant break from standard press access practice.
Trump warned additional news organizations could also face bans — signaling this may be the opening move, not the last one.
The Associated Press sued the administration in 2025 after it excluded reporters from some presidential events over the outlet’s refusal to adopt Trump’s preferred “Gulf of America” terminology.
A federal judge initially ruled the government could not punish the AP for its editorial viewpoint, although an appeals court later paused that order while the case continued.
A blanket ban on three entire news organizations would raise the stakes considerably.
