Two legends come face to face — with the help of A.I.
President Donald Trump stepped into the future of history on Wednesday, holding a face-to-face conversation with an artificial-intelligence version of Theodore Roosevelt at the dedication of the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in the Badlands.
The jaw-dropping moment, filmed and blasted across social media, shows Trump standing at a console in a recreated White House office while a lifelike AI avatar of the 26th president — complete with signature mustache, vest, and energetic mannerisms — delivers straight-talking advice.

“Every day a president faces storms most people never see. Keep your nerve and remember the nation comes first. You get through. I know you know that feeling yourself,” the AI Roosevelt said.
Trump didn’t miss a beat. “Well, I appreciate those words. Those words are fantastic.”
The interactive “Talk with TR” exhibit is one of the star attractions at the privately funded library, which opens to the public July 4, 2026 — exactly on America’s 250th anniversary. Visitors can grill the AI avatar (trained on Roosevelt’s letters, speeches, diaries, and archives) about everything from the Panama Canal to life in the Badlands.
In another exchange captured on video, Trump asked the digital TR whether he considered the Panama Canal his greatest achievement. The AI responded that while the canal was “a mark that would last,” Roosevelt measured his legacy by bigger things: “the lives improved, parks set aside, food and drugs made safe, a square deal given to all, not just to a few.”
Trump, who has long admired Roosevelt and drawn direct parallels between their tenures (both serving during major national anniversaries), called the entire library experience “inspiring” and “fantastic.” He said it was giving him ideas for his own future presidential library. As part of the dedication, Trump presented the library with Theodore Roosevelt’s Medal of Honor (previously displayed in the White House Roosevelt Room). He arrived in style — first by helicopter, then a special Freedom 250 train — and was greeted by Rough Rider reenactors on horseback before delivering remarks highlighting Roosevelt’s grit, masculinity, and determination. The nearly 100,000-square-foot facility features immersive galleries, holograms, and cutting-edge AI to bring Roosevelt’s story to life in the very landscape that shaped him after personal tragedy in the 1880s.
