Donald Trump has another landmark in his sights.
After declaring the Strait of Hormuz under “U.S.A. control,” the president floated a new name Wednesday for one of the world’s most important oil chokepoints:
TRUMP STRAIT.

“Now that we have it under U.S.A. control, should we change the name Hormuz Strait to TRUMP STRAIT???” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“Like America itself, it would be ‘hotter’ than ever before! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
The post follows the U.S. military campaign to secure the Strait after weeks of fighting with Iran and attacks on commercial shipping.
Trump has increasingly treated geography as something open to a little presidential rebranding.
On the first day of his second term, he ordered the federal government to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America.
More recently, he directed federal agencies to begin referring to Lake Ontario as Lake America amid his escalating trade fight with Canada.
