The United States and Iran have formally signed their memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict between the two countries and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, with the agreement now officially in effect, according to two U.S. officials cited by Axios.
One official told the outlet that President Trump personally signed the agreement as part of a remote execution process approved by both governments.
The signing occurred ahead of a planned ceremony in Switzerland on Friday, where negotiators from both countries are still expected to meet.

Sources familiar with the discussions said the timetable was accelerated in part because both Washington and Tehran wanted to move more quickly on reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route that has been disrupted during the conflict.
